Viva La Velvet!
As a true 90's baby I was more than thrilled to see this lush and dreamy fabric make a come back over the past two event seasons. The versatile fabric has evolved from the beloved slip dresses of our past and worked its way into the world of event decor and design. Brides have especially been loving the fabric's comeback. With its rich jewel tone color options and dreamy textures is it really hard to see why?
Lately, I've been seeing this beloved fabric of my past pop up just about everywhere. Whether its table decor or bridal attire it always seems to make just the right statement and add a touch of vintage flair. So if you were wondering...yes, there are many ways to incorporate this beautiful and bold fabric into your big day. From the more delicate and subtle nods, like a jewel-toned velvet wrap around your bridal bouquets, to the big and bold displays like table linens or draping, this fabric is sure to bring a charm and richness to your wedding design. Did I mention I love them all? And now I know what you're thinking..."I love it but how will it go with my summer wedding?" Don't you worry this swanky and lush fabric has evolved from it's earlier days of yellow and gold tones and moved into modern times with colors ranging from light millennial pinks to airy baby blues and everything in between. So no matter what the season there's bound to be the perfect hue for you and let me say they are all AMAZING.
So now that I have you sold on one of my latest design obsessions lets dive in on how you can incorporate it into your wedding design.
For Your Ceremony:
Bring your wedding archway to life by draping it with this ever so charming fabric. Wether you go with a more rustic style arch or a simple pipe and drape this fabric is sure to add style, elegance, and class to your ceremony design. You can even kick it up another notch by incorporating floral arrangements. Because let's face it the only thing better then a swag of velvet fabric is a swag of velvet adorned with a beautiful floral arrangement.
For Your Reception:
From table runners to the bows on your menu cards there's truly an endless amount of ways to incorporate this fabric into your reception. So do you want to take the plunge and make a bold statement with your decor? If so, try a velvet table runner or crushed velvet table linens for your guest tables. Either of these options will give your guest tables a major WOW factor and give your receptions that whimsical and romantic feel we all love.
Not quite ready to take that big of a plug when it comes to this more trendy fabric? No problem! Pay tribute to your new favorite fabric with a more understated look, like adding a dainty and elegant velvet bow to your silverware rolls. Perhaps try adding a pop of color and texture to your escort cards by hanging them with strips of velvet ribbon. Or you can make a statement and drape your sweetheart table with a dreamy colored floor length velvet linen. Even the smallest touches of velvet will still make a huge statement in your reception space.
For Your Seating Areas:
Seriously is there anything more dreamy then an intimate seating area in your reception filled with vintage velvet furniture...I think not. Adding pieces of velvet furniture to your reception space is the ultimate way to add charm, color and vintage elegance to your room. Whether you go with a colored tufted sofa with matching chairs for a lounge area where your guests can sit and chat or keep it simple with a neutral colored love seat for your sweetheart table, pieces of velvet furniture are the way to go trust me on this one.
For Your Bridal Party:
Not sure you want your reception space decked out in velvet? Or maybe you're more about making a statement with your outfit choices. If you answered yes to either of these questions then velvet statement accessories might be the right choice for you! Finish off your bridal gown with a pair of colored velvet pumps or if your not a heal gal you can go with an edgy yet delicate pair of velvet booties! If you want to keep it even more subtle try opting for a bridal bouquet wrapped with a piece of velvet fabric for a danity and classy touch. Grooms don't worry I didn't forget about you and your dashing groomsmen! Make a modern and stylish statement with a velvet suit jacket or blazer in a cool jewel tone, or keep it simple and add a velvet bowtie. No matter what velvet accessory you choose its bound to make a statement...and bonus note it looks fab in photos.
